Criminal defence
Tanner & Taylor has a large Criminal Defence Team with a very well established local reputation for its Criminal Defence, Motoring Law, Prison Law and Military Defence work. A number of our criminal defence lawyers are qualified duty solicitors, who can therefore undertake police station representation work. Our solicitors have represented clients in matters ranging from motoring to more serious offences such as murder and serious fraud. In particular fraud is, with the advent of new technology, becoming more complex and sophisticated. With the increasing use of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 as a supplement to substantive fraud offences there is much more to lose for anyone accused and subsequently convicted of a fraud.
Military and courts martials
Our criminal department is also one of the few practices in the area to offer an expertise in Military Law and Courts Martials. Our lawyers from the criminal defence department are experienced in dealing with military personnel and regularly defend clients at the RMP/SIB, Courts Martials and Summary Appeal Courts in the UK.
Motoring and traffic law
Tanner & Taylor has a specific interest in Motoring and Road Traffic Law, dealing with all aspects, from the Police Station through to summons or charge. We have successfully defended many cases. Motorists may not appreciate that they are facing a criminal offence, which may have a profound effect on them and others. We are experienced in defending clients who face motoring offences and helping them through the experience of going to Court. We deal with the most common motoring offences including, but not limited to: speeding, careless, dangerous or drink driving, use of a mobile phone whilst driving and compliance with requests for driver details.
