Issy Hogg

Issy Hogg – Partner

Issy joined Tanner & Taylor as a partner in 1991 and is now the senior criminal partner. Alongside overall responsibility for both the Magistrates and Crown Court divisions she is also head of Crown Court and Military Law Departments.

Issy qualified in 1984, and became a duty solicitor in 1986 when the scheme was first created. Since 1989, when she spent some time working with the Crown Prosecution Service, she has specialised in criminal law work with specific reference to serious offences, including fraud.

Issy has extensive experience in military law and court martial work and is currently involved in the defence of military personnel with regard to the Iraq war crimes trial.

Bernard Crick

Bernard has specialised in Criminal Law for the last 25 years. He came to Aldershot in 1977 to join Edmund Pocknell and Co, moving to Herrington and Carmichael in 1994. Bernard has acted successfully in a wide range of criminal matters. Bernard joined Tanner & Taylor as a partner in 2002.

Heather Monk

Heather joined Tanner & Taylor in March 2000 to complement the expanding Criminal Department. Heather is a qualified duty solicitor and experienced advocate. She specialises in all areas of criminal law, including road traffic, from the police station stages through to the Crown Court.

Heather is responsible for an extensive caseload, including advising professionals in high profile cases. Heather also represents clients at the Youth Court and advises on Military Law matters, including Courts Martial appearances. Heather is the Departmental Manager for the Magistrates Court.

Claire is in the Criminal Department with 8 years experience, specialising in all criminal matters including Prison Law. This involves Police Station attendance and advocacy before the Magistrate’s Court, dealing with a wide range of cases.

Admitted in 1973, Robert joined Tanner & Taylor in 2004 following the merger of Metcalfe & Co where he was a partner for fourteen years. A highly experienced Criminal and Licensing Solicitor, he has during his career also worked in the fields of family, wills and probate.

Noelle qualified as a solicitor in 1998. She specialises in all aspects of criminal law and was a duty solicitor for 2 years before spending 2 years as a legal adviser in the magistrates court. Noelle has recently returned to private practice, joining Tanner & Taylor in October 2004.

Kate joined Tanner & Taylor in 2002 as a Trainee Solicitor. During her training she worked in a number of departments including Family, Wills and Probate, Criminal Defence, Civil Litigation and Employment before qualifying as a Criminal Solicitor in August 2004. Kate is based at the Aldershot office dealing with all areas of Criminal Law including Road Traffic Offences. Kate also deals with military law matters including Courts Martial appearances.

Stuart Western

Stuart Western

Stuart was admitted as a solicitor in 1998 and has specialised in criminal law ever since, further qualifying as a duty solicitor in 2000 and as a Higher Courts Advocate (Solicitor Advocate) in 2002. He joined Tanner and Taylor in 2002 and deals with a broad range of criminal matters (including many high profile cases) at all stages from police station representation to advocacy at the Magistrates and Crown Court.

Stuart has a specific interest in Motoring and Road Traffic Law, dealing with all aspects of motoring offences, summonses and the police. He has many years of experience of helping motorists through the experience of facing a Magistrates Court, and has successfully defended many cases.

Stuart has worked in Aldershot since 1999, and is therefore experienced in dealing with military personnel and regularly defends clients at the RMP/SIB, Courts Martials and Summary Appeal Courts in the UK and abroad.
